Description
VP88 STEREO MICROPHONE The Shure Model VP88 is a single-point stereo condenser microphone designed for use in professional recording studios, field productions, electronic information gathering (ENG) and signal transmission applications. It has two capacitive cartridges placed in one housing in order to obtain a stereo audio image of the sound source. It has the unique ability to capture the realism of live events, and at the same time it is characterized by high resistance to unfavorable conditions of production carried out in the field. VP88 has an M-S configuration. One mic cartridge with a cardioid (Mid) pattern faces forward and captures sounds along the axis of the microphone. A second microphone cartridge with a bidirectional (Side) characteristic picks up the sounds coming from the sides of the microphone. The VP88 has an internal M-S matrix with three settings to achieve different stereo image widths. The inner matrix can be bypassed, we use an outer matrix or if the stereo image is determined in the post-production process. The switches on the top of the microphone are used to control the output mode, stereo image, low cutoff settings, as well as shutting down the battery power. The VP88 can be powered by phantom voltage or via an internal 6V battery. The VP88 is supplied with a Y-splitter, a sponge windshield, a rotating tripod adapter, a 6V battery and a zipper pouch. Optional accessories include a shock mount, a 7.6 m (25 ft) microphone extension cord, a phantom power supply, and a 4.3 m (14 ft) microphone stand. The optional A88SM shock mount provides optimal isolation from tripod vibrations and other vibrations. The A88SM mount is the perfect choice for demanding studio applications as it has a standard shoe that is fitted to most video cameras used for electronic information gathering (ENG).
