The watch was originally developed for the British Royal Air Force in 1948. The black dial of this 39mm IWC Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire is executed with strikingly visible Arabic numeral hour markers coated in Super-LumiNova to assist with timekeeping in dark conditions. In addition to this, the dial also features luminous, leaf-shaped central hands and a legible date aperture at 3 o’clock. All elements of the dial, including the famous IWC Schaffhausen lettering are held underneath a scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass lens. The IWC Pilot’s Watch Spitfire Automatic is powered by the Calibre 32110, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 72-hour power reserve. The movement is also suspended inside the manufacturer’s innovative anti-magnetic protective soft iron casing. The watch is completed on a stylish green textile strap and fastens with a pin buckle crafted from stainless steel to match the material of the watch’s 60-meter water resistant case.
