Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is an antiviral cream for the treatment of recurrent cold sores (herpes simplex infections) of the lips and face in adults and children. It contains aciclovir, which acts against the cold sore virus and is best applied as early as possible, ideally at the first tingling, itching or redness before the cold sore fully appears. This is supplied as a pharmacy medicine, so the sale should be reviewed by the pharmacy team before it is completed. It must not be used to treat genital herpes or eye infections, and is not recommended for people with weakened immune systems without medical advice. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or considering use for a child, please speak to your pharmacist. If the cold sore has not healed within 10 days, seek advice.
