As early as 1868, Charles Cocks remarked that "Beyond any of the others, Rieussec produces wines that are very similar to Yquem wines". Owned by the Barons de Rothschild of Chateau Lafite the chateau is next door to the hallowed ground of Yquem. Rieussec's style is always one of intense power with an almost roasted richness on the palate.
