It provides both nitrogen and phosphate, two nutrients that are important for healthy plant growth and strong root development. Its gradual release of nutrients over an extended period makes Bonemeal suitable for a wide range of garden plants and crops. Bonemeal: Encourages healthy root development. Ideal for bulbs, herbaceous plants, shrubs, roses, fruit trees and strawberries. Organic slow-release fertiliser. Bonemeal can be used before sowing or planting, as a spring top dressing for established roses and border plants, and around fruit trees and bushes during autumn. Distribute evenly over the soil at the recommended rate, preferably when the soil is moist. Lightly hoe the fertiliser into the top surface of the soil. In dry conditions, water the treated area after application. Note: One gloved handful contains approximately 35g. Prior to Sowing or Planting Apply at a rate of 140g per square metre (approximately 4oz per square yard) and mix thoroughly into the soil. Established Roses, Shrubs and Border Plants Apply as a top dressing in spring at 140g per square metre (approximately 4oz per square yard), gently working the fertiliser into the surface. While plants are actively growing, re-apply at 70g per square metre (approximately 2oz per square yard) every 6 weeks.
