Conifer and Shrub Fertiliser: Pelleted Extended nitrogen release Used by commercial nurseries in the production of trees and shrubs Formulated to help plants as they grow, Conifer and Shrub Fertiliser should be added when soil is moist, or if dry, watered in after application. Versatile, the pelleted fertiliser can be used for planting conifers and shrubs in permanent positions, planting standard ornamental and fruit trees as well as ericaceous plants. In the spring, Conifer and Shrub Fertiliser can be used as a top dressing and should be sprinkled evenly under the branches of the tree or shrub and lightly forked in. Always read the instructions for exact application measurements. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Sizes available: 2.5 Kg box How to use Note: 1 gloved handful contains approximately 60g (2 oz). Apply evenly to soil at the rates recommended below, preferably when the soil is moist. Lightly hoe into the top surface of the soil and in dry conditions water in. Planting Conifers and Shrubs in Permanent Positions For 15-20cm (6-8 ins) containers or bare rooted stock, take 60g (approx 2 ozs) Conifer & Shrub Fertiliser and sprinkle part of it into the bottom of the planting hole and lightly fork in. Use the balance of the fertiliser with the fill-in soil and firm in the plant. For container stock larger than 20cm (8 ins) apply 60 g to the bottom of the planting hole, lightly forking in, and mix 60g into the fill-in soil. Standard Trees (ornamental & fruit) Use 900g (2 lbs) of Conifer & Shrub Fertiliser per tree when planting. Apply 350g (approx 12 ozs) to the soil at the bottom of the planting hole, forking in well. Mix the balance of the fertiliser with the fill-in soil and firm in the tree. Azaleas and Rhododendrons Azaleas, Rhododendrons and other ericaceous subjects have very low nutrient requirements. Do NOT apply any fertiliser before planting. (Mix a good quantity of peat into the fill-in soil). Subsequent top dressings of Conifer & Shrub Fertiliser should be very light; no more than 30g (approx 1 oz) applied evenly to the soil around each shrub in any one year. Top Dressing In the spring following planting, sprinkle 60g (approx 2 ozs) Conifer and Shrub Fertiliser evenly under the branches of the tree or shrub. Lightly fork in the fertiliser. The soil should be moist, but if not, lightly water in. Conifers, trees and shrubs will benefit from a regular top dressing with Conifer & Shrub Fertiliser. In early spring (March) apply 60g for plants up to 60cm (2 feet); for plants 90-120cm (3-4 feet) apply 120g and for standard trees use 180g. Repeat the application at the end of June to early July. As the conifer, tree or shrub increases in size, so its natural requirements increase and the amount of Conifer & Shrub Fertiliser can be increased accordingly. Hints & Tips Read the directions carefully before use. Store the fertiliser in a dry place away from children, pets and foodstuffs. Wash hands after use. Product may irritate cut or broken skin. Do not exceed the recommended application rates. Avoid the fertiliser lodging on leaves and stems.
