Exputex 250mg/5ml Oral Solution is a mucolytic containing carbocisteine. It is used as an adjunct in respiratory tract disorders characterised by excessive or thick (viscous) mucus, helping to thin and loosen phlegm so that it can be cleared more easily, for example in chesty coughs. It should not be used by people who have, or have had, a stomach ulcer. Use with caution if you have a history of peptic ulcer. The solution contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol) and the colour sunset yellow (E110), which may cause allergic reactions in some people, and parahydroxybenzoates. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.
