Wet Combing Treatment Method Head lice may be cleared over a two week period, without the use of chemical preparations, by using a Safe & Sound Nit Comb as follows:Wash hair in the normal way with your usual shampoo. Whilst hair is very wet, add a generous amount of ordinary conditioner and comb hair thoroughly and carefully with a Safe & Sound Nit Comb. Ensure that the teeth of the comb slot into the hair at the root for the start of each stroke. Comb over a pale surface, such as a paper towel or the bath, and rinse the comb clear of lice after each stroke. Wet lice find it difficult to escape and conditioner helps to prevent lice keeping a grip on the hair. Repeat this routine every 3-4 days for 2 weeks so that any lice emerging from eggs are not given the opportunity to reproduce.

The Safe & Sound Dust Comb can be effective in detecting the presence of head lice and can be used in the "wet combing" method of treatment.
