Description
1er Cru Classé SauternesLafaurie-Peyraguey has a very impressive, ornate château that is well worth a visit. The vineyard of 41 hectares is sited on the lower part of tthe Bommes plateau below its name-sake, Clos Haut-Peyraguey. The word Peyraguey means hill. The name Lafaurie derives from the fact that the estate was acquired by a Monsieur Lafaurie during the Revolution.
Today it is owned and managed by Jean-Pierre Petroffe who prides himself on the meticulous care taken from vineyard, through several stages of harvesting to the cellar. These are Sauternes wines with wonderful creaminess and great complexity.
