At the time of the 2002 vintage Alain and Jean-Louis Chavy were in joint charge of this superb 12-hectare domaine (established in 1820 by their great-great grandfather, Charles Chavy) but the brothers have now split the domaine into two. This estate, and no doubt the subsequent 2 estates, has always been regarded as being amongst the top estates of Puligny. It was not all that long ago that the Chavys sold the vast majority of their wines to the negotiants of the area but, in the past ten years, they bottled a large percentage of their production themselves. Their scrupulous attention to detail, and desire to keep to low yields, has resulted in a range of classic Puligny wines. Finely balanced and very concentrated, these wines have a remarkable purity of Chardonnay fruit with each of the Premier Crus showing off their typicity and terroir.
